Welcome
Introduction
I photograph my coffee in the morning and food in the middle of eating it. I like to photograph utility poles, light poles, architecture, alley ways, and wires. It's not Ansel Adams; it's Pete Olsen!
Artist Statement
Overall Ethic
Though most of my recent work is digital, I still stay true to my film photography roots. I compose all my shots in the camera, making cropping all but unnecessary (unless the desired image is outside the range of my lens). I do as little reworking or retouching as possible, mostly only correcting for limitations in the medium. This is not due to some grand thesis about the purity of the captured image, or truth in advertising, I am simply lazy. I hate spending time retouching. I do my best to minimize the need for any kind of retouching work. Despite this attention to detail, I often fail. So, any retouching done is analogous to that of traditional photography, i.e., color and contrast adjustments, burning, dodging, removing dust and scratches, etc.
